Ayurveda Herbal
India 2015
Ayurveda Herbal in India 2015 will be an altogether different industry but with the collective efforts from different departments. The whole Ayurveda Herbal industry needs to be more streamlined, transparent and there should be proper linkage between the producer, processor and aggregators of ayurveda herbal products and medicines in order to achieve the targets.
In India already the Aromatic and herbal based medicinal industry in addition to health and diet supplements is growing at a fast pace and expected to grow at an average rate of more than 20% both at global as well as domestic sphere. To handle such an immense industry we need an integrated approach. For this ASSOCHAM has made few suggestions and these are as follow.
ASSOCHAM Suggestion on Ayurveda Herbal India 2015
Popularization of Herbal Preparations to Create Awareness
According to India Ayurveda system one should always eat such food that is healthy to the body in addition to providing complete nutrition. This comes under present day nutraceuticals. There is a need to create an awareness of this nutraceuticals for good health and rejuvenation of the system. There are hardly any side affects of these herbal products. As part of social marketing and awareness programmes more ayurveda herbal spa and herbal parks should be created. In these herbal parks information on different kinds of herbs, health rejuvenation, famous herbal preparations with good ayurveda health tips should be provided in order to popularize the ayurveda herbal India 2015.
Explore the Domestic and Export Market
Ayurveda herbal products are required not in India but across the world, in international market. But in the absence of integrated market segment and associated promotional activities most of these products are unable to put an impact which they are suppose to make. In order to tap the domestic and export market trade fair and exhibitions must be organized where buyers and sellers of these products can meet and explore new business opportunities. ASSOCHAM is already playing its role in this direction.
ASSOCHAM has found out that trade fairs and exhibitions have the capability of tapping this industry where it will be easy both to procure the raw material and market the finished products. Electronic media should also be used for this in which the results can be quickly obtained.
National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) and its Role in Promoting Ayurveda Herbal Products
Government of India set up the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) in 2002 to coordinate the matters related to medicinal plants. It also support the policies and programs that are meant for the growth of trade, its export, cultivation and conservation. NMPB is responsible to check the growth of the medicinal plant across the country. At state and regional level the growth of medicinal plants ins take care by the State Medicinal Plants Boards (SMPB). Till September 2006 there were thirty five SMPBs.
Along with this promotion of herbs is taken care by the Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
Need for Legal Support Along with Protocol and Documentation
These valuable herbs need documentation, patents, and intellectual property rights from time to time and this comes under legal work. Apart from India these ayurveda herbal medicines and products must be recognized abroad and more specifically in USA and EU countries. Single drugs like ginger are welcomes in these countries but compound drugs are hard to accept as these may contain heavy metal and carcinogenic compounds. So in order to promote the ayurveda herbal all these hurdles must be handled legally and steps must be taken to clear the way.
Support to Ayurveda Herbal Medicines and Products
For the stability and promotion the Indian Ayurveda and herbal medicines need proper support system to create the awareness globally. The Traditional Indian Medicines and their miraculous curing and healing power must be recognized abroad.
Connections Between Herbal Producers, Aggregators and Processors
Although NMPB has made sincere efforts to make the information pertaining to supply sources available to all yet there is a need to streamline the supply sources and there should be more linkages between processors, aggregators and producers of herbs. Because at present there is no such strong linkage so the producers are the major sufferers because they get less price. So there should strong linkage so that every party associated gets the required benefit and helps in promoting the Ayurveda herbs more efficiently.
